In this week’s vlog, let me share with you a little bit about the Attachment Theory.
The Attachment Theory is like a lens we see the world through. When I found it, it allowed me to release myself from shame and guilt about why I had the thoughts and behavior patterns I had that I didn’t like. It allowed me to look at things differently. It helped me understand why I do what I do and that all things made sense.
It’s time to free yourself from the negative self-talk that is beating you up. If you do not like the lens in which you see the world through, neuroscience has proven that you can completely change it – which I think is so cool! The number one step is “awareness.”
I just want to give you a little overview of the 4 Main Styles in the Attachment Theory.
1. Secure Attachment
2. Avoidant Attachment
3. Ambivalent/Anxious Attachment
4. Disorganized Attachment
If you want to learn more, here are a few resources that can help you:
Dr. Dan Siegel – His website offers a lot of information about his books and many other free resources, such as audio and video clips.
Dr. Diane Poole Heller – Her website offer free gifts such as video series, guidebooks, and quizzes that can help you discover what your attachment style is.
We also offer trainings, such as the Attachment 101 to help get the word out there about Attachment Theory.
I truly believe that knowledge is power. When you know why you are doing what you are doing, it will bring you the ability to move from being on autopilot point to a choice point. Ask yourself, “Is this working for me or not?” If it’s not, then you have the opportunity to discover how you can get to where you want to be.
The old theory goes “You can’t change what you don’t know.” Knowing the different attachment styles really helps you understand the lens of what you are looking at the world through.
My invitation to your from the universe – Step into your own power of deciding how you want to live your life.
Step into the purpose of your life and rock it out.I wish you all the love and light in the world today. Don’t forget to check out the two resources I shared with you. And of course, you can always invite us to come and speak or help train your staff or organization.
